The launch of the website www.integration-marl.de marks the completion of one of the most interesting projects in my career. The decision taken at the outset was not to restrict the website to migrants but to create a website which would serve all the citizens of Marl and which would reflect the multicultural dimension of our town. Marl is a pleasant place to live and the town has a great deal to offer. Marl has become my home and I would like Marl to become your home too.
In creating this website our intention has been to raise the profile of the many services and facilities on offer in our town.
The project has been a learning curve and also the source of some surprises for me and for the other people and organisations working on the project.
I have been privileged to meet so many dedicated people and have been impressed by the particular commitment of members of the Integration Council, members of organisations run by migrants, administrative staff, and representatives of private sector support organisations, the Christian-Islamic Association of Marl (CIAG), politics and the media.
